Celebrate Valentine’s Day in one of the most romantic but undiscovered places in the “Rose City of the World.” Take a tour of the Shanghai Tunnels, the infamous Portland Underground, with someone special. For Valentine’s weekend, February 12th (Friday), February 13th (Saturday), and February 14th (Sunday), step back into time for a tour of the Shanghai Tunnels. This is an underground network where history merges with the darkness and shadows of the centuries, and where couples become closer on this guided excursion into the mystique of the past. This tour will take participants into the creepy world of shanghaiing and white slavery. Here in the underground of four buildings where human abuse took place, this horrific and mysterious history will seem to come alive as you are guided through this restored network of intense darkness and shadows.
This unique excursion of the Portland Underground will end at the Museum of the Shanghai Tunnels where very rare and unique artifacts of this fascinating and frightening history are on display. In addition, a special story not used on our other tours will be shared with our guests, making it an ideal piece of oral history perfectly suitable for Valentine’s Day.
